Recent insights into Apple’s production strategy reveal that tandem OLED screens could make their way to iPhones two years after development is finalized. Tandem OLED technology layers multiple panels to improve brightness, efficiency, and lifespan, while minimizing burn-in issues—an advantage over traditional OLED screens. Despite the benefits, Apple’s development for this technology on iPhones has yet to start, suggesting a prolonged timeline for implementation.
Currently, Apple sources iPhone displays primarily from Samsung and LG, with BOE playing a minor role. Previously, when discussing mass production of tandem OLED for the iPad Pro, Samsung expressed willingness to supply Apple if a substantial order was placed, highlighting profitability concerns.
