Apple Watch Series 10 was originally supposed to feature blood pressure monitoring

Apple Watch Series 10’s Blood Pressure Feature Hit Snags, Causing Delay

Exciting health features are on the horizon for future Apple Watch models, though not all ideas make it to market due to various setbacks during development. The Apple Watch Series 10, boasting a larger display and slimmer design, was anticipated to include a revolutionary blood pressure sensor. It’s the kind of milestone you’d expect for a product celebrating its tenth iteration. However, recent reports suggest that design changes have led Apple to delay this highly-anticipated health addition.

In Mark Gurman’s ‘Power On’ newsletter, it’s highlighted that the Apple Watch Series 10 faced significant hurdles, particularly concerning the new design and the blood pressure sensor. These challenges during testing resulted in the feature being shelved for now. Blood pressure monitoring has been a recurring rumor for past models, yet it remains absent.

Tech enthusiast and YouTuber Vadim Yuryev predicts this health feature could become a reality with a revamped band system. Yuryev suggests an innovative magnetic band with pogo pin connectors could electronically link to the Apple Watch, featuring sensors that gather blood pressure data. For accurate readings, users might need to tighten the band, ensuring precise measurements.

Apple’s substantial investment in artificial intelligence also comes into play, with advanced AI models potentially enhancing data accuracy and representation. Despite these innovations, the absence of a physical sensor in the Series 10 means that enthusiasts may have to wait a bit longer for this feature to materialize in future models.
