Nintendo has made an official announcement that they are winding down new post-launch support for the beloved game Splatoon 3. This decision marks the beginning of the game’s transition into maintenance mode.
The colorful and fast-paced shooter celebrated its final and most monumental Splatfest over the weekend, bringing to a close two vibrant years of continuous post-launch content. Moving forward, the game will reintroduce past events while keeping its servers active.
In a heartfelt message, Nintendo shared, “After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. Don’t worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes!”
For a nostalgic trip down memory lane, fans can enjoy a recap video highlighting the various Splatfests hosted in Splatoon 3, leading up to the final celebration.
While Nintendo confirmed the cessation of regular content updates, they reassured players that Splatoon 3 will still receive Monthly Challenges, balancing updates, and minor fixes. The recurring events—Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights—will continue to make their seasonal appearances.
Additionally, the game’s popular modes, such as Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges, will remain active “for the time being.” The game’s last significant content update, “Side Order,” rolled out in February 2024.
Splatoon 3, available since 2022 for Nintendo Switch, will still offer plenty of ink-splashing fun as it recycles its beloved events and maintains online play. Fans old and new can continue to dive into this vibrant world and enjoy everything it has to offer.
