Apple appears to be gearing up to launch its first foldable iPhone next year, and while specifics remain under wraps, a recent leak gives us a glimpse into its potential pricing, at least in China. According to leaker Setsuna Digital, the iPhone Fold could start at a steep CNY 15,999, which translates to about $2,230 for the 256 GB model. Upgrading to the 512 GB or 1 TB versions would add an extra CNY 2,000, pushing the top-tier 1 TB model to nearly CNY 19,999, or $2,790.
This pricing positions Apple’s foldable at the high end of the market. For context, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7, starting at CNY 13,999 ($1,950) for the 256 GB option and going up to CNY 16,249 ($2,260) for the 1 TB version, appears more budget-friendly in comparison. It seems Apple may be targeting a more premium market, perhaps aiming to compete with Huawei’s Mate XT, which costs CNY 19,999 ($2,790) for its 256 GB variant.
How these prices will carry over to the global market remains uncertain. However, if these figures hold true, the iPhone Fold could be more expensive than Samsung’s anticipated Galaxy Z Fold8, possibly starting around $2,200 in the US, aligning with previous speculation. This potential price point reflects Apple’s strategy to position its foldable as a premium device in the expanding market of foldable smartphones.
