Apple seeds iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 beta 9 updates ahead of iPhone 17 event.

Apple Stuns Developers With Beta 9 of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 Days Before the September 9 iPhone 17 Reveal

Apple has released beta 9 of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26 to developers, just a week after beta 8 and days ahead of the upcoming iPhone 17 launch event. While many expected the eighth beta to be the final round before the release candidate, it looks like there’s one more developer build on the way before RC lands.

If you’re a registered developer, you can install iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 beta 9 over the air using the Settings app. Make sure the Apple ID on your device is linked to your Developer Account; otherwise, the update won’t appear.

How to install iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 beta 9
– Open Settings
– Go to General > Software Update > Beta Updates
– Select the appropriate developer beta and follow the on-screen prompts

macOS Tahoe 26 beta 9 is also available to developers via System Settings. As with iOS and iPadOS, your Apple ID must be associated with a Developer Account to receive OTA updates.

Alongside these updates, new developer betas for watchOS 26, visionOS 26, and tvOS 26 are rolling out as well, likely the final stop before the release candidate build.

These platform updates bring major front-facing features and notable visual refinements. iPadOS 26, in particular, is shaping up to further narrow the gap between iPad and Mac, potentially changing how you use your tablet for work and creativity. iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26 also deliver meaningful upgrades worth exploring as they progress toward the final release.

Apple’s “Awe Dropping” iPhone 17 event is scheduled for September 9, and the timing of this beta suggests the RC build could follow soon after. What are you most eager to try once these updates go public?
