Apple has released the third developer beta of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1, which includes several updates primarily focused on Apple Intelligence. Initially announced at WWDC, this technology was originally limited to users in the United States. However, the newest beta versions indicate that Apple Intelligence will now be accessible beyond the US, though it will still require the use of US English.
Previously, users needed to change their Siri language to US English and adjust their region settings to access Apple Intelligence outside of the United States. The latest updates indicate that this geographic restriction has been relaxed; users outside of the US can now join the Apple Intelligence waitlist without changing their region, as long as they have their language set to US English.
There are a few exceptions to these changes. Apple Intelligence will not be available in China, and users in the European Union must be signed in with a US App Store ID. While the adjustments are promising, they may not be permanent as future beta updates could potentially restore the original restrictions. It is speculated that Apple is expanding access to gather more feedback from a larger pool of developers, which could help in achieving a stable release expected in October.
For those using the latest iOS 18.1 beta 3, accessing Apple Intelligence has become more straightforward. However, users on the second beta version may need to follow additional steps to access the service outside the United States.
Currently, Apple Intelligence is free and is considered a major new feature for the iPhone. It is compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it will also be available on the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. Apple plans to announce the iPhone 16 series during the “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9, which will include detailed coverage of the new products.
If you have had the chance to use Apple Intelligence, how has your experience been so far?
