Epic Games is voicing concerns over Apple allegedly blocking its popular Fortnite app from appearing in both the U.S. and EU App Stores. This development follows a significant legal win for Epic Games, where they secured the right for app developers to implement external payments in the U.S. App Store without facing Apple’s commission fees.
On May 9, 2025, Epic Games attempted to bring Fortnite back to the U.S. App Store. However, when Apple didn’t respond to the submission for a full week, Epic Games decided to withdraw and resubmit. The urgency of this situation was explained by CEO Tim Sweeney, who emphasized that Fortnite requires weekly updates across all platforms to ensure consistent new content for its users.
Determined to make a return, Epic Games resubmitted a new version with the necessary updates on May 14. Yet, according to a post by Fortnite on social media platform X, Apple has now officially blocked the latest U.S. submission, extending this restriction to the European Union as well.
The post conveyed disappointment, stating, “Now, sadly, Fortnite on iOS will be offline worldwide until Apple unblocks it.”
