Aoostar is preparing to take its latest compact desktop beyond China with the Maco 470, a new mini PC built around AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 470. While the newer APU offers only modest performance improvements compared to the earlier Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in benchmark results, Aoostar has paired it with key upgrades that make the overall package more appealing for buyers who want a modern, high-performance mini PC with strong expandability.
One standout improvement is memory support. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 can work with LPDDR5-8533, and Aoostar is leveraging that capability to deliver faster RAM performance than many competing small-form-factor systems in the same category. Faster memory can help improve responsiveness in everyday workloads and may offer benefits in certain productivity tasks that depend on bandwidth.
Connectivity is another major focus. The Maco 470 includes OCuLink, positioned on the left side of the chassis. For small PCs, OCuLink is a sought-after feature because it can enable high-speed external expansion, including powerful add-ons like external graphics solutions and other performance-focused peripherals, depending on how users choose to configure their setup.
In China, the Aoostar Maco 470 is currently priced at CNY 6,699 (around $969) for a configuration with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD, placing it firmly in the premium mini PC segment. Aoostar has also confirmed a global launch is planned for later this year, although the company hasn’t yet provided official pricing or market-by-market availability details outside China.
For anyone shopping for an AMD Ryzen AI mini PC with fast LPDDR5 memory and OCuLink expansion, the Maco 470 is shaping up to be a noteworthy option to watch as the worldwide release approaches.
