Aoostar has officially unveiled the AG03, a new external GPU dock in China designed for users who want desktop-class graphics performance on a laptop, mini PC, or gaming handheld. Positioned as a refreshed version of the earlier AG02, the Aoostar AG03 focuses on faster connectivity, modern power delivery, and a cleaner all-in-one setup thanks to its built-in power supply.
The biggest upgrade is the move to two USB4 v2 ports, also commonly associated with Thunderbolt 5-class performance. While standard USB4 connections can be limiting for high-end external GPU setups, USB4 v2 raises the ceiling significantly by offering up to 80 Gbps of bandwidth. That extra throughput can help reduce bottlenecks, which is one of the main concerns buyers have when shopping for an eGPU dock.
Aoostar is also clearly targeting portable gaming and compact workstation builds with its charging support. One of the two high-speed ports on the AG03 supports up to 140W USB Power Delivery, which is especially useful if you’re pairing the dock with a gaming handheld or a thin-and-light laptop and want a single-cable desk setup. The second USB4 v2 port provides up to 27W, which is more suited for powering accessories or keeping smaller devices topped up.
For users who prefer lower-latency, more direct GPU connectivity, the AG03 still includes an OCuLink port. This gives buyers another option besides USB4/Thunderbolt connections, depending on what their device supports and how they want to balance convenience versus performance.
Inside, the AG03 keeps the same basic GPU installation approach as before: a full-length PCIe x16 physical slot, operating at PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds. In other words, it looks like a standard desktop GPU slot, but the usable bandwidth aligns with a four-lane PCIe 4.0 link, which is typical for many compact eGPU solutions.
Another major talking point is power. The Aoostar AG03 includes a built-in 800W power supply, helping reduce cable clutter and making the dock easier to integrate into a desk or living-room setup. However, the maximum power it can deliver to the installed desktop graphics card is rated at 500W. That figure is lower than the previous generation’s stated maximum GPU power, and it may be a trade-off connected to the newer high-speed ports and overall power allocation.
Beyond these updates, the AG03 sticks closely to the familiar formula. The design remains largely the same, and there’s still no built-in M.2 slot support for adding SSD storage directly into the dock, which some competing eGPU docks offer. Still, the extra high-speed USB4 v2 port can be used to connect fast external storage, which helps if you want to keep games, media, or project files on an external drive.
Pricing is one of the most attention-grabbing parts of this launch. The Aoostar AG03 debuted in China at CNY 1,499, which is roughly $213. Aoostar hasn’t confirmed global availability yet, but the feature list—USB4 v2 / Thunderbolt 5-class ports, OCuLink support, and an integrated PSU—makes it a product many eGPU shoppers will likely keep an eye on, especially if the international price stays close to its China launch level.
