Netmarble’s upcoming RPG The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is starting to pick up serious momentum ahead of release, recently climbing Steam’s “Trending Upcoming” list. Set to launch as a free-to-play adventure, the game expands the popular The Seven Deadly Sins universe with open-world exploration, team-based action combat, and a brand-new story centered on Prince Tristan of Liones.
Rather than retelling familiar arcs, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin introduces an original storyline led by Tristan, the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth. The plot kicks off after a disruption in time and space, a setup that opens the door for well-known characters to reappear while also bringing in new allies, enemies, and surprises. For longtime fans, it’s a chance to revisit a beloved world from a fresh angle; for newcomers, it’s designed to work as a standalone entry with its own central conflict.
One of the biggest changes from previous game adaptations is the move to a fully open-world structure from day one. Players will be able to roam a reimagined Britannia spanning varied landscapes such as forests, mountains, and coastal zones. The world is built to feel alive, with dynamic weather and a day-night cycle that continually changes the atmosphere as you travel, explore, and fight.
Exploration isn’t just about moving from battle to battle, either. The game includes extra activities and progression systems like fishing, cooking, and resource gathering, giving players more ways to develop characters beyond straightforward combat.
When fights do break out, combat is real-time and action-focused. Instead of turn-based mechanics, the gameplay emphasizes quick decision-making, ability management, and timing. Players can swap between characters during combat, triggering coordinated Tag Skills that depend heavily on who’s in your team and how well you chain actions together. This team composition element could be a major draw for players who enjoy experimenting with different lineups and playstyles.
For those who prefer playing with friends, optional multiplayer supports up to four players, allowing shared dungeon runs and co-op exploration. It’s positioned as a feature rather than a requirement, which may appeal to both solo-focused RPG fans and co-op players looking for a new game to tackle together.
Netmarble has also adjusted its release rollout compared to earlier plans. The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is now scheduled to arrive first on PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 5 on March 16, 2026, followed by iOS and Android versions on March 23. The staggered timing is intended to support a smoother launch experience, especially after changes made based on last year’s closed beta feedback.
With a globally recognized anime and manga brand behind it, a free-to-play model, and an ambitious open-world direction, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has clear potential to become one of the more talked-about RPG launches of March. Whether it delivers on that promise will be decided soon, but its rising visibility suggests a lot of players are already watching closely.
