Anbernic has unveiled its latest creation, the RG CubeXX Classic, a promising addition to its lineup of retro gaming handhelds. Following the success of the RG Cube, this new model is set to captivate gaming enthusiasts with its intriguing features and impressive capabilities.
The RG CubeXX Classic is powered by Anbernic’s own Linux fork, steering away from the more common Android platform. While details about its wireless controllers remain scarce, they are noted to be strikingly similar to 8BitDo’s Ultimate 2C, generating excitement among fans eagerly anticipating their official reveal.
Having been relatively quiet since launching the RG406V in September, Anbernic has stirred curiosity with whispers of upcoming innovations, including the much-talked-about RG408 and RG406P. With the announcement of the RG CubeXX Classic, the wait for more information on these developments has become even more enticing.
This new device appears to build on the technological foundation of the RG35XX series, boasting the capability to emulate classic consoles such as Dreamcast, N64, and PS1. This suggests that the CubeXX Classic might be equipped with the Allwinner H700 chipset, promising a robust gaming experience. Additionally, it features a unique 3.95-inch square display with a 720p resolution, offering a crisp 1:1 aspect ratio.
Connectivity is another highlight, with the device supporting 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. Plus, aesthetic elements like RGB lighting around its joysticks and HDMI output add to its appeal. Although pricing and availability details are yet to be disclosed, these are expected to be announced later this month, stirring anticipation among retro gaming fans.
