AMD Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 Causes Problems on Windows 10 as Users Report Driver Errors
AMD’s latest Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 graphics driver appears to be causing trouble for many Windows 10 users, with reports pointing to installation and launch issues shortly after updating. The problem seems to be limited mainly to Windows 10 systems, while Windows 11 users do not appear to be widely affected.
According to user reports, AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition may fail to open after installing the 26.6.2 driver. In some cases, Device Manager displays a yellow warning icon, often referred to as a “yellow bang,” indicating that Windows has detected a problem with the graphics driver or device configuration.
AMD has acknowledged the issue and says its engineering team is actively investigating the cause. The company describes the problem as a compatibility-related error affecting AMD graphics drivers on Windows 10. At the moment, there is no permanent fix available, but AMD is expected to release an updated driver or patch once the investigation is complete.
For now, affected users are being advised to roll back to the previous AMD Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1 driver. This older driver version appears to work normally on Windows 10 and should restore regular GPU functionality for users who are currently experiencing launch errors or Device Manager warnings.
However, rolling back does come with one notable downside for Radeon RX 7000 series owners. The newer Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 driver introduced FSR 4.1 support for RDNA 3 graphics cards, including the RX 7000 lineup. Returning to version 26.6.1 means users may temporarily lose access to that feature until AMD delivers a corrected driver package.
There have also been a small number of reports suggesting that the issue may appear on some RX 9000 series systems, though these cases seem far less common. Based on the available information, the problem still appears to be most strongly linked to Windows 10 compatibility rather than a widespread hardware-specific failure.
Users who have not yet installed AMD Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 on Windows 10 may want to wait until AMD releases a fixed version. Those who already updated and are seeing errors should uninstall the problematic driver and reinstall Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1 as a temporary solution.
AMD has not provided an exact timeline for the fix, but with the issue now officially recognized, a corrected driver release is likely on the way. Until then, Windows 10 users with AMD Radeon graphics cards should proceed carefully before updating to Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2.
