The Radeon PRO V710 graphics card has been launched specifically for Microsoft Azure servers, marking a departure from traditional gaming cards. Designed to enhance data-center capabilities, the V710 is crafted for Desktop-as-a-Service, Workstation-as-a-Service, cloud gaming, and AI/ML applications. This exclusive datacenter GPU offers flexible usage options, allowing customers to utilize between 1/6 and 1 times the GPU instance, with access to up to 24GB of GPU memory despite its total 28GB capacity.
Based on the Navi 32 architecture, the Radeon PRO V710 comes equipped with 54 RDNA3 Compute Units, which mirrors the setup of the Radeon RX 7700 XT. However, the V710 distinguishes itself by boasting 28GB of GDDR6 memory—more than double the 12GB offered by the RX 7700 XT. It provides a significant memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. One of the standout features is its support for R-IOV, which allows it to be divided among virtual machine instances so that multiple servers can share the same GPU simultaneously.
When it comes to performance, the V710 delivers superior ray tracing capabilities compared to its RDNA 2 predecessors. Thanks to AMD Infinity Cache technology, modern PC games can enjoy seamless gameplay even with advanced visual effects activated. The hardware also supports high-quality streaming with AV1, HEVC (H.265), and AVC (H.264) encoding and decoding features. Enhanced by AI accelerators for matrix multiplication, and supported by AMD’s ROCm software framework, the V710 excels in computational performance, making it ideal for machine learning.
The card sports a sleek, single-slot design and is cooled passively, strictly for data center environments, not typical PCs. Its exclusivity to Azure servers means it’s not available for individual purchase.
In comparison to the RX 7700 XT, the V710 has double the memory capacity and higher memory bandwidth. With a 500 MHz lower GPU clock, it still maintains efficiency by having a power draw of only 158 watts, marking a 35% reduction in power consumption compared to the gaming version. Overall, the Radeon PRO V710 presents a powerhouse solution for Azure’s data-center services, enhancing both performance and efficiency.
