AMD continues to expand its ever-popular AM4 platform with new additions that underscore the company’s commitment to keeping the socket relevant. In July, the tech giant introduced the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which were well-received additions to their already extensive lineup of over 145 processors released over the last nine years.
Now, whispers of two new entries, the Ryzen 5 5600T and 5600XT, have surfaced through motherboard listings that support these processors. Both chips are expected to feature six cores. According to reports, the 5600T is classified as a Vermeer processor, a detail confirmed by MSI’s motherboard lists, with the 5600XT likely using a similar silicon architecture. Users can look forward to dedicated desktop versions rather than reimagined mobile APUs, although this does indicate an absence of integrated graphics.
As per preliminary specs, the Ryzen 5 5600T is anticipated to deliver a 3.5 GHz base clock, while the 5600XT will push slightly further with a 3.8 GHz base frequency, both operating at a 65W TDP. While there’s no word yet on turbo speeds, these specs align with what’s expected from AMD’s efficient designs. AMD hasn’t officially announced these CPUs, which follows a familiar pattern—many products have been introduced under the radar without formal announcements in the past.
This strategic move by AMD aims to extend the AM4’s lifecycle, but one might question whether the market truly necessitates more CPUs from the 5600 series, which already boasts seven distinct models.
