AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs Appear on Geekbench, Showcasing Enhanced Single-Core Performance

AMD is set to shake up the high-end CPU market with the introduction of its next-generation processors, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D. These powerful chips have recently made an appearance on Geekbench, showcasing a remarkable leap in performance over previous generations, both in single-core and multi-core benchmarks.

At CES 2025, AMD revealed its plans for these new Zen 5-based 3D V-Cache processors, designed to deliver cutting-edge performance. Although the company shared performance expectations, it was only with the Geekbench listings that enthusiasts got a closer look at these CPUs in action.

Tested using Gigabyte’s X670 AORUS ELITE AX motherboard and paired with 32 GB of DDR5 memory, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D demonstrate significant improvements. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D, equipped with 16 cores and 32 threads, boasts up to 144 MB of cache, thanks to the combined power of the Zen 5 CCDs and the innovative X3D stack. On the other hand, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D features a 12-core, 24-thread setup, with a total cache of up to 140 MB.

In terms of raw numbers, these CPUs display an impressive 15% boost in single-core performance compared to their predecessors. However, the multi-core increases are a bit more modest, posting an average improvement of about 7%. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D shows room for growth in multi-core scenarios, but keep in mind that results may shift with final releases.

Excitingly, rumors suggest that these new Ryzen 9 “X3D” processors will launch in tandem with the upcoming RDNA 4 GPU series, potentially offering a powerhouse combo for tech enthusiasts. Anticipation is high for a showcase slated for late February to early March, setting the stage for AMD’s latest innovations to make waves in the tech world.
