AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT finally shows up in Steam Hardware Survey with 1.33% GPU share
AMD’s latest Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards are finally starting to appear in the Steam Hardware Survey, nearly a year after their original launch. The May 2026 Steam Hardware Survey now lists the Radeon RX 9070 XT with a 1.33% share, while the more affordable Radeon RX 9060 XT has also entered the rankings with a 0.72% share.
This is a notable moment for AMD’s RDNA 4 lineup. Since launch, several Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs have been difficult to spot in Steam’s monthly hardware data, even though some models have performed well at major retailers and gained traction among PC gamers. During that same period, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 50 series continued to grow steadily on Steam, especially popular mid-range cards like the RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti.
The Radeon RX 9070 XT’s sudden appearance is especially interesting because it did not enter the chart with a tiny share. Instead, it immediately landed above 1%, reaching 1.33% in the May 2026 report. That places it ahead of several older GeForce RTX 30 series and RTX 40 series graphics cards in Steam’s database.
While the RX 9070 XT still trails several current-generation Nvidia GPUs, the gap is not huge in every case. For example, the GeForce RTX 5080 currently sits at 1.47% share, putting it only slightly ahead of AMD’s flagship RDNA 4 gaming GPU. If the RX 9070 XT continues gaining ground, it could narrow that difference in future Steam Hardware Survey updates.
The data also suggests momentum for AMD. The RX 9070 XT reportedly moved from 1.24% to 1.33% within a short period, showing that more systems using the card are being counted by Steam. This may indicate that AMD’s RDNA 4 cards were underrepresented in previous months rather than absent from gaming PCs entirely.
AMD’s budget-focused Radeon RX 9060 XT has also finally appeared in the Steam GPU rankings. The card now holds a 0.72% share, moving up from no visible presence in earlier reports. As one of AMD’s more accessible current-generation graphics cards, its arrival in the survey is important for tracking how the company is performing in the mainstream PC gaming market.
However, the RX 9060 XT still has a long way to go against its Nvidia counterpart, which currently holds more than 2% share on Steam. Nvidia continues to dominate the most-used GPU rankings, particularly in the mid-range segment where many PC gamers tend to upgrade.
Even with these new entries, AMD still faces a tough climb before any Radeon RX 9000 series card reaches the top 10 GPUs on Steam. The Steam Hardware Survey is heavily influenced by long-term adoption, pricing, availability, regional popularity, and how many users choose to participate in the survey.
Still, the May 2026 update is a positive sign for AMD. The Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT finally appearing in the Steam Hardware Survey gives a clearer look at RDNA 4 adoption among PC gamers. If more Radeon RX 9000 series users are counted in the coming months, AMD’s share could continue to rise and make the GPU competition more interesting throughout 2026.
