AMD Dominates February CPU Market; Ryzen 7 9800X3D Maintains Lead on Amazon with Over 8,000 Units Sold

AMD continues to reign supreme in the CPU market, leaving competitors in the dust with its impressive lineup of processors. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D stands tall as the top-selling CPU, with the Ryzen 5 5600X maintaining its spot as a popular choice among budget-conscious buyers. This trend highlights AMD’s unwavering dominance, with February seeing nearly 50,000 units shipped, further securing its lead over Intel.

While Intel attempts to stay competitive with the release of new Arrow Lake-S processors, it struggles to keep up in the rankings. The noticeable absence of Intel’s Core Ultra 200S series in the best-seller lists underscores this challenge. In contrast, AMD’s Ryzen models, particularly the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, continue to fly off the shelves, supported by strong sales of other models like the Ryzen 9700X, Ryzen 7800X3D, and the budget-friendly Ryzen 5500.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D has recently stolen the crown from the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, now celebrated as the fastest gaming and productivity CPU available. With its robust configuration of 16 cores and 32 threads paired with additional L3 cache, it represents the epitome of performance for the serious computer enthusiast.

Strikingly, the top 10 best-selling CPUs for the month didn’t feature a single Intel processor. The most successful from Intel’s offerings was the Core i9 14900K, with modest sales exceeding 1000 units, followed by the Core i7 12700K. The Core Ultra 7 265KF is the only model from the Arrow Lake line showing any notable sales, albeit modestly, at just 200 shipments.

In terms of total market share, AMD has captured a whopping 84.18% of CPU shipments in February 2025, leaving Intel with a meager 15.82%. This dominance reflects in AMD’s revenue share of 86.03%, further contrasted by a higher average selling price of $290.71 for AMD compared to Intel’s $251.18.

Looking ahead, unless Intel delivers significant performance improvements, the trend seems set to continue, with AMD’s Ryzen processors, especially the X3D series, likely to maintain their commanding positions at the top of sales charts.

This bustling competition showcases AMD’s continued innovation and ability to meet consumer demands, reinforcing its role as a major player in the tech industry.
