Amazon Alexa Tablet 8 Debuts With Alexa+ AI, Google Play Access, and Wi-Fi 6
Amazon has introduced the Alexa Tablet 8, a compact Android tablet designed for everyday entertainment, smart home control, video calls, and hands-free help from the company’s Alexa+ AI assistant. With an 8-inch form factor, aluminum unibody design, and lightweight build, the new tablet aims to be a portable option for users who want a simple device for streaming, browsing, reading, and managing connected devices around the home.
The Alexa Tablet 8 is powered by a processor paired with 4 GB of RAM, making it best suited for casual use rather than heavy multitasking or demanding games. Storage options start at 64 GB, with higher-capacity models available for users who need more room for apps, downloads, photos, and offline media.
One of the tablet’s biggest advantages is that it runs Android and includes access to the Google Play Store. That gives buyers a wider selection of apps compared with devices limited to a custom app store, making it easier to install popular streaming services, productivity tools, games, and communication apps.
Amazon has also included Alexa+ support, giving the tablet a stronger focus on AI-powered assistance. Users can ask questions, control smart home devices, set reminders, manage routines, check the weather, play music, and use voice commands throughout the day. For anyone already using Alexa-enabled speakers or smart home products, the Alexa Tablet 8 could fit naturally into an existing setup.
For cameras, the device includes an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. These should be suitable for basic photography, document scanning, and video calls. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, which can provide faster and more stable wireless performance when connected to a compatible router.
The base version of the Amazon Alexa Tablet 8 comes with ads displayed on the lock screen and screensaver. Buyers who prefer an ad-free experience can choose the version without lock screen ads for an additional cost.
The Amazon Alexa Tablet 8 is now available for pre-order, with shipping scheduled to begin on October 14. The 64 GB model with lock screen ads is priced at $229, while the ad-free version costs $249. A higher-storage configuration is available for an additional $50.
With Google Play Store access, Alexa+ AI features, Wi-Fi 6, and a compact design, the Alexa Tablet 8 is positioned as an affordable Android tablet for users who want a smart, portable device for home and entertainment use.
