Amazfit is rolling out a fresh software update for the Amazfit Balance 2 XT smartwatch, marking the first firmware release for the model in 2026. The update arrives as firmware version 2.16.0.1, landing roughly two months after the previous 2.14.0.1 build, which introduced new always-on display watch faces and delivered improved GPS performance.
Referred to as the Balance 2 XT OTA 4 release, firmware 2.16.0.1 focuses on expanding fitness tracking and making daily health insights easier to understand at a glance. One of the headline additions is the arrival of two new workout modes: Rucking and Mountain Hiking. These options are designed for users who train with loaded walks or spend time on steeper terrain, helping the watch better match metrics and tracking behavior to these specific activities.
The update also adds two new tools tied to Amazfit’s BioCharge energy monitoring. Users now get access to a 24-hour BioCharge trend, which provides a clearer view of how energy levels shift throughout the day. There’s also a Morning BioCharge card, intended to make it quicker to check your current status and get a simple snapshot of recovery and readiness when you start the day.
Beyond health and workouts, Amazfit is introducing a handy convenience feature: on-watch screenshots. After installing the update, you can capture the watch screen by pressing the crown and the lower button at the same time. Screenshots are then automatically saved to your connected smartphone, making it easier to share settings, workout summaries, or watch faces without needing to describe what’s on your display.
There are a few additional quality-of-life changes included as well. The Control Center now features a new Silent icon, and the update brings smaller optimizations covering activity reminders, the weather data source, and map icons.
As with many wearable updates, firmware version 2.16.0.1 is expected to roll out in phases, so availability may vary by region. Once it reaches your device, you’ll be able to download and install it through the Zepp Health smartphone app.
