Albion Online

Albion Online Lands on Xbox This April

Sandbox Interactive is bringing its long-running fantasy MMORPG, Albion Online, to Xbox consoles for the first time next month. Xbox Series X|S players will be able to jump into the same living world as PC and mobile adventurers when Albion Online launches on April 21 via the Microsoft Store, complete with full crossplay.

Set in a medieval fantasy sandbox, Albion Online is built around player freedom. You choose your own path across a sprawling world filled with danger, opportunity, and rival guilds. Whether you want to roam the wilderness gathering rare resources, craft gear and build a trading empire, dive into dungeons with friends, or fight for territory in large-scale battles, the game’s core promise stays the same: your story is shaped by your decisions, not a fixed quest line.

The Xbox Series X|S version has been tailored specifically for console play. The interface has been redesigned with a new navigation flow, key screens like the Marketplace and inventory have been adapted for controller use, and combat has been reworked to feel smooth and responsive on a gamepad. New accessibility features have also been added with console players in mind, making the overall experience more comfortable to play from the couch.

Already invested time on PC or mobile? You won’t have to start over. Albion Online’s one-account approach will let existing players use the same account on Xbox Series X|S without losing progress, making it easy to swap platforms while keeping your character, items, and achievements intact. That seamless account access also reinforces what Albion has become known for: a true cross-platform MMO where the community shares one connected world.

The Xbox launch is also arriving alongside a major improvement to the game’s presentation. The Radiant Wilds update launches on April 13 and delivers a full visual upgrade designed to bring the graphics up to date for modern systems, along with performance improvements. The update also adds controller support and introduces a new PvP mode—changes that should be especially valuable for incoming Xbox players getting ready for launch.

Albion Online’s biggest draw remains its player-driven systems. Nearly every item in the game is crafted by players and then bought, sold, or traded through local marketplaces across the world. Combat avoids traditional classes, too—your weapons and armor determine your abilities, so changing your role can be as simple as switching gear. For players who love progression with flexibility, this classless combat system makes experimenting with builds feel natural and rewarding.

PvE and PvP fans both have plenty to dig into. You can take on everything from solo encounters to small-group skirmishes to massive fights, facing enemies that range from roaming bands to towering bosses, plus dungeons and heavily defended faction bases. If you prefer building a home over chasing battles, Albion supports land ownership as well. Players can claim plots, grow crops, raise livestock and mounts, and customize homes with furniture to create a personal foothold in the world.

Exploration is another major pillar, with five distinct biomes offering different resources, threats, and discoveries. From venturing into dungeons to hunting for valuable materials—or seeking out the mysterious Roads of Avalon—Albion’s world is designed to reward curiosity.

With its Xbox Series X|S release set for April 21, crossplay enabled from day one, and a major Radiant Wilds upgrade arriving just beforehand, Albion Online’s console debut is shaping up to be the easiest time yet for new players to step into Albion—or for returning veterans to continue their journey on a new platform.
