Akasa Newton N16 Brings Silent Fanless Cooling to the ASUS NUC 16 Pro Mini PC

Akasa has introduced the Newton N16, a compact fanless case designed for the ASUS NUC 16 Pro mini PC. Built for users who want a silent desktop setup, the Newton N16 replaces active cooling with a passive thermal design capable of dissipating up to 28 W of heat.

The biggest appeal of the Akasa Newton N16 is simple: no fan noise. For home offices, media centers, digital signage, studio workstations, and quiet productivity spaces, a fanless mini PC case can make a major difference. Instead of relying on spinning fans, the Newton N16 uses its aluminum body to help move heat away from key components.

The case is made specifically for the ASUS NUC 16 Pro board and keeps the system’s original I/O layout intact. That means users can switch to the fanless enclosure without losing the connectivity options built into the mini PC.

Akasa has also included passive cooling support for dual M.2 SSDs. Dedicated aluminum heatsinks help keep storage drives under control, which is especially useful in compact systems where heat buildup can affect long-term performance and reliability.

The Newton N16 measures 188.6 x 204 x 53.6 mm, or about 7.43 x 8 x 2.11 inches. With a volume of roughly 2.1 liters, it remains compact enough for space-limited setups while offering a more premium, silent cooling solution than a standard actively cooled mini PC chassis.

However, there is an important tradeoff. The case can dissipate up to 28 W, while the Intel chips used in the ASUS NUC 16 Pro are available with higher TDP ratings, including 45 W and 65 W configurations. Because of this, users should expect reduced performance compared with a fully active cooling setup, especially under sustained heavy workloads.

That makes the Newton N16 best suited for people who prioritize silence over maximum processing power. It could be a strong fit for office work, web browsing, lightweight creative tasks, media playback, point-of-sale systems, and always-on environments where low noise matters more than peak performance.

The ASUS NUC 16 Pro itself can be configured with powerful hardware, including up to a 16-core Core Ultra X7 358H APU with integrated Arc B390 graphics. It also supports up to 128 GB of DDR5-7200 SO-DIMM memory through two slots, making it a capable mini PC platform even when tuned for quieter operation.

Akasa is also adding flexibility for installation. The Newton N16 supports VESA mounting, allowing it to be attached behind a monitor or mounted in compact workspaces. Additional mounting accessories are planned as well, including wall-mount and rack-mount options.

Pricing and availability for the Akasa Newton N16 have not yet been announced. Still, for users building a silent ASUS NUC 16 Pro system, this fanless enclosure could become one of the most interesting upgrade options available.
