Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta are preparing for their biggest AI infrastructure spending wave yet, as demand for artificial intelligence computing continues to reshape the global cloud market.
According to a recent DIGITIMES research report, the combined capital expenditures of these four cloud giants are expected to climb to a record US$745 billion in 2026. The surge highlights how aggressively the world’s largest cloud service providers are expanding data centers, AI server capacity, advanced networking, and high-performance computing resources to support the next generation of AI applications.
The rapid growth of generative AI, enterprise automation, cloud-based AI tools, and large language models has created a massive need for more powerful infrastructure. Training and running AI models requires enormous computing capacity, fast data transfer, and reliable energy supply. As a result, leading cloud companies are investing heavily in new facilities, next-generation chips, and faster network technologies.
One major area of focus is high-speed data center connectivity. As AI workloads become larger and more complex, cloud providers need faster networking to move huge volumes of data between servers and accelerators. This is driving stronger demand for technologies such as 800G networking, which offers significantly higher bandwidth for AI clusters and large-scale cloud environments.
