Affordable M21 Retro Gaming Handheld Debuts with HDMI Out and Controversial Design

SJGAM has introduced the M21, a new handheld gaming console that is now available for purchase through various resellers. This device stands out with its remarkably affordable price, starting at just $30 globally.

The design of the M21 closely resembles that of the Game Console R36S and the Powkiddy RGB20S but offers a unique feature—a mini HDMI port. This feature is quite unusual for a 3.5-inch gaming handheld, making it a notable addition.

Powering the M21 is the ‘N909’ chipset, which, as demonstrated by HyperPlay RPG, can emulate PlayStation 1 games. It runs on EmuELEC 4.3, an operating system that lacks many customisation options found in other modern retro gaming handheld platforms. Additionally, HyperPlay RPG highlighted that the M21’s default firmware only supports one save state and contains some initial bugs.

While the M21 claims to support Bluetooth controllers, this support seems limited to those sold separately by SJGAM. The device is equipped with a USB Type-C port, a MicroSD card reader, a 3,000 mAh battery, and the typical set of controller buttons.

The M21 is available in four different color options and can be purchased for around $30 from multiple resellers.
