Acer Reveals Next-Gen Predator and Nitro Gaming Laptops at CES Featuring Panther Lake and RTX 50-Series Graphics

Acer is refreshing its gaming laptop lineup with new Predator and Nitro models built around Intel’s latest Panther Lake platform, also known as Intel Core Ultra Series 3. The big idea behind this update is simple: faster everyday performance, stronger gaming capability, and a major boost to on-device AI features thanks to upgraded NPUs. To round out the package, Acer is pairing these new Intel chips with budget to mid-range NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series laptop GPUs, giving buyers more options depending on performance needs and price.

At the top of the new lineup sits the Predator Helios Neo 16S AI (PHN16S-I51), aimed squarely at enthusiasts who want serious power in a portable body. Acer is equipping it with up to the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H, a 16-core processor designed to handle demanding workloads while also pushing AI acceleration hard. With the latest NPU5 delivering up to 50 TOPS of AI performance, this model is positioned for modern AI-assisted tasks as well as high-end gaming. While the chip includes integrated graphics based on Intel’s Xe3 architecture (with 4 GPU cores), the real gaming muscle comes from an optional NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU, which should help deliver smoother frame rates and advanced upscaling through DLSS 4.5.

Despite the performance focus, Acer is keeping the Helios Neo 16S AI impressively slim. The chassis measures just 18.9 mm thick, making it easier to pack and carry than many traditional gaming laptops. To keep temperatures in check under sustained load, Acer is using a high-end cooling setup featuring a 5th-generation AeroBlade 3D fan system along with liquid metal thermal grease, a combination typically reserved for laptops that take performance seriously.

The display is also a key highlight. Acer is going with a 16-inch OLED panel at 2560 x 1600 resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate, catering to players who want rich contrast and color alongside fluid motion for fast-paced games.

For shoppers looking for a more affordable path to Intel Core Ultra Series 3 performance, Acer is also introducing the Nitro V 16 AI and Nitro V 16S AI. These two models are largely similar, but the Nitro V 16S AI is designed to be thinner. At 17.9 mm, it’s about 2 mm slimmer than the Nitro V 16 AI, offering a more streamlined build while keeping key components the same.

Both Nitro models can be configured with the Intel Core Ultra 7 355, an octa-core processor that targets strong mainstream performance for gaming, school, and productivity. Like the Predator model, they can be paired with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU, giving buyers a compelling mid-range option for 1080p-to-1200p high refresh rate gaming and modern features.

The Nitro V 16 and 16S models use a 16-inch IPS display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a fast 180 Hz refresh rate, which should appeal to competitive gamers who prioritize smoothness and responsiveness. Memory support tops out at 32 GB of DDR5 (lower than the Predator’s 64 GB ceiling), but storage remains generous, with support for up to 2 TB NVMe SSD—matching the Predator on maximum SSD capacity.

Release timing will vary by region and model. The Predator Helios Neo 16S AI is expected to arrive in North America in Q3 2026, in EMEA in Q2 2026, and in Australia in Q1 2026. The Acer Nitro V 16 AI is planned for Q2 2026 across North America, EMEA, and Australia. The Nitro V 16S AI is slated for Q3 2026 in North America and Q2 2026 in EMEA.

With these announcements, Acer is clearly leaning into three big selling points that shoppers are actively searching for right now: Intel Core Ultra Series 3 laptops, RTX 50-series laptop graphics, and AI-ready PC performance—packaged across both premium Predator systems and more accessible Nitro models.
