NES-inspired mini PCs don’t show up every day, which is exactly why ACEMAGIC’s newest release is getting attention. The company has launched the Retro X5 mini PC in China, and it’s one of the closest modern computers you’ll find to the look and feel of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System. With its two-tone grey and off-white styling and familiar retro accents, it’s clearly designed to tap into nostalgia while still delivering modern performance.
ACEMAGIC revealed two retro-themed mini PCs recently: the Retro X5 and the Retro X3. The Retro X5 is the higher-end model, powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 “Strix Point” processor. That chip brings a Zen 5-based 12-core, 24-thread CPU configuration aimed at users who want a compact desktop that can handle heavy multitasking, productivity, AI-assisted workloads, and even gaming—without needing a bulky tower.
The design tweaks are subtle but practical. The power button has been moved to the right side of the front panel, and where you might expect a reset button, ACEMAGIC has added front-facing connectivity instead. You’ll find a USB Type-C port, two USB Type-A ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack right up front for easy access—ideal for plugging in headsets, controllers, external drives, or other accessories.
Around back, the Retro X5 adds more ports for a full desktop-style setup. There are two USB Type-A 3.2 ports and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, along with HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.0 for display output. For wired networking, ACEMAGIC includes dual 2.5G LAN ports, a feature that’s especially appealing for power users who want faster local transfers, smoother streaming, or flexible network configurations.
Performance-wise, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is positioned as a CPU + GPU + NPU package, combining traditional processing power with integrated graphics and an onboard neural processing unit for AI features. On the graphics side, the system uses the Radeon 890M integrated GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture—an iGPU family that’s become a popular choice in compact PCs and gaming handheld-style devices thanks to its strong balance of efficiency and capability.
ACEMAGIC is selling the Retro X5 in a configuration with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Pricing in China is set at 6,499 yuan, which works out to roughly $940 USD. There’s no confirmed word yet on global availability, so anyone outside China will have to wait and see if ACEMAGIC expands the launch to other regions.
Meanwhile, the Retro X3 is expected to be a more affordable alternative. It will use a Zen 4-based AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 processor paired with the Radeon 780M iGPU. ACEMAGIC hasn’t officially launched the Retro X3 yet, but it’s expected to come in at a lower price point once it arrives.
