Sony has delivered some welcome news for PS5 players: Helldivers 2 has officially joined the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, giving Extra and Premium subscribers access to one of the most talked-about co-op shooters of recent years at no additional cost.
Helldivers 2 first launched in 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PC, quickly becoming a major hit thanks to its chaotic squad-based action, intense alien battles, and strong emphasis on teamwork. The game’s popularity surged shortly after release, reaching a peak of around 458,000 players on Steam. Although the player count has naturally settled since launch, the online community remains active, with more than 120,000 players still jumping into missions.
The game also benefits from crossplay support across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles, making it easier for friends to team up regardless of platform. For PlayStation Plus subscribers who have not yet tried it, this is a strong opportunity to experience one of the most successful online multiplayer games of the current generation.
Helldivers 2 is now available through PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium. The Extra plan is priced at $17 per month, while the Premium plan costs $20 per month. Players subscribed to either tier can download and play the game as part of the catalog.
Alongside its arrival on PlayStation Plus, Helldivers 2 is also getting fresh content. A new DLC titled Devoid of Liberty has been announced, bringing additional missions and new enemy types to the battlefield. Among the newly revealed threats are The Wretch and The Crusher, both of which should add more variety and challenge to the game’s already frantic combat.
There is also a limited-time community challenge for players. If Helldivers 2 players manage to eliminate 500 million enemies by August 18, they will unlock four special PlayStation avatars themed around the game.
With its mix of explosive combat, cooperative strategy, crossplay support, and new content on the way, Helldivers 2 joining PlayStation Plus could give the game another major boost.
