Arc Raiders Server Slam draws nearly 190,000 players ahead of October 30 launch
Embark Studios’ PvPvE extraction shooter just wrapped a breakout weekend. The Arc Raiders Server Slam playtest, which went live on October 17 as the final free test before release, surged to a peak of 189,668 concurrent players on Steam and maintained well over 100,000 throughout the weekend.
SteamDB recorded an all-time peak of 189,668 on day one, followed by a strong 185,137 on Saturday. That momentum propelled Arc Raiders to the number four slot on Steam’s most-played chart, sitting just behind Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Battlefield 6, and notably outpacing popular titles including PUBG: Battlegrounds, Rust, Megabonk, Marvel Rivals, Baldur’s Gate 3, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Bongo Cat.
These figures only capture the Steam audience. With the playtest also available on Epic Games Store and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the true concurrent player count is likely far higher—potentially double when accounting for all platforms.
The opening hours were hectic. Arc Raiders hit 100,000 concurrent players on Steam within two hours, initially straining servers and causing crashes and disconnects. Embark rolled out a rapid hotfix to stabilize performance. While the update required a full redownload of the test build, the studio reassured players on its official X account that oversized patches “should not be the norm moving forward.”
Despite that early hiccup, player interest didn’t waver. Concurrents remained north of 100,000 as the weekend progressed. Feedback from the test phase is mixed but energetic: some participants felt the limited test content led to a repetitive loop, while others praised the core gunplay, tense extraction pacing, and the overall hype it builds for launch day.
If Embark can carry this momentum into release and keep servers steady, Arc Raiders is poised to buck the trend of rocky online debuts and establish itself as a serious contender in the extraction shooter space alongside standouts like Hunt: Showdown, Helldivers 2, Arena Breakout: Infinite, and Delta Force.
