RTX 5000 MXM adapter ZOTAC

ZOTAC Launches an Innovative MXM to PCIe x16 Adapter for Desktop Integration of MXM RTX 5000 Ada GPU

In China, the Professional RTX 5000 MXM continues to captivate buyers despite its original design for embedded systems. Interestingly, with an MXM to PCIe adapter, it can seamlessly transition into a desktop environment.

ZOTAC has priced the RTX 5000 MXM ADA at approximately $4742 on a Chinese eStore. Alongside, a dedicated desktop adapter is available for about $181, catering to those who value adaptability.

Although ZOTAC recently impressed with its cutting-edge Blackwell-powered MXM RTX PRO 5000 GPU at Computex, their stock of the previous-gen workstation card remains noteworthy. The RTX 5000, based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, is still popular in Chinese markets. This version is particularly suited for mobile workstations due to its MXM form factor, offering Error Correcting Code memory normally found in desktop models. However, the MXM version does see some performance reductions compared to its desktop counterpart.

The GPU listed at 33,999 Yuan features the MXM PCB, including the essential GPU package and memory. Unlike desktop motherboards that use a PCIe x16 slot, the MXM 3.1 Type-B slot, found on laptop motherboards, powers it. This unique configuration limits it primarily to mobile workstations, but ZOTAC’s MXM-to-PCIe adapter changes the game by enabling desktop installation.

This adapter includes the MXM 3.1 Type-B port and a 16-pin power connector, typically associated with high-end RTX 40/50 series GPUs, allowing the MXM RTX 5000 to be used in a desktop setup. Although not matching the raw power of the desktop version, it comes equipped with 4x DP ports and additional output ports, making it versatile. It houses 9728 CUDA cores, 16 GB GDDR6 Memory, 304 Tensor cores, and 76 RT Cores, aligning closer to the GeForce RTX 4080.

While the desktop variant boasts 12,800 Cores and 32 GB GDDR6 memory, making it inherently faster, the MXM version still provides robust performance. The adapter offers the flexibility to transition between laptop and desktop workstations, making it an enticing option for tech enthusiasts with dual setups.
