YouTube Unveils Voluntary Buyout Program for U.S. Employees

YouTube launches voluntary exit program for U.S. staff, reshapes product teams as ad revenue climbs

YouTube has introduced a voluntary exit program offering severance to U.S.-based employees, according to an internal memo sent by CEO Neal Mohan on Wednesday.

Alongside the program, the Google-owned platform is restructuring its product organization into three focused teams that will report directly to Mohan:
– Subscription Products: Responsible for YouTube’s subscription offerings, including YouTube Music & Premium and OTT.
– Viewer Products: Centered on the viewer experience across the main YouTube app, YouTube Kids, Learning, Trust & Safety, and related areas.
– Creator & Community Products: Dedicated to supporting creators and strengthening community-building tools.

The company emphasized that no roles are being eliminated as part of these organizational changes.

The announcement arrived the same day Alphabet shared third-quarter results showing YouTube’s advertising revenue reached $10.26 billion, a 15% year-over-year increase. The moves reflect YouTube’s ongoing push to grow subscriptions, enhance the viewer experience, and expand resources for creators while sustaining strong ad performance.
