TCL Kids Watch K5 Brings Tough Design, Bright Style, and Smart Safety to Young Explorers

TCL Kids Watch K5 Launches With 4G, GPS Safety Features, Camera, and School Mode

TCL has introduced the Kids Watch K5, a colorful smartwatch designed for children and built with safety, communication, and durability in mind. The new wearable combines 4G connectivity, location tracking, video calling, games, step tracking, and parental controls in a kid-friendly design.

The TCL Kids Watch K5 is aimed at parents who want a simple way to stay connected with their children without handing them a full smartphone. With built-in 4G support and a 2MP camera, the watch allows kids to make video calls and voice calls, while guardians can manage key features through a dedicated parental app.

One of the main highlights of the TCL Kids Watch K5 is its location-tracking system. TCL says the smartwatch uses 10-layer high-precision positioning to help guardians locate their child more accurately. Through the companion app, parents can create safe zones and receive alerts when the child leaves those areas. The app also supports location history, remote locking if the watch is misplaced, messaging, calling, and friend management.

The Kids Watch K5 also includes an SOS function for emergencies. Even when School Mode is enabled, SOS calls remain available. School Mode is designed to reduce distractions during class by silencing notifications and disabling selected features, helping children stay focused while still allowing important safety functions to work.

For social features, TCL has added a fun friend-adding option. Children can add friends who also use TCL kids smartwatches by shaking their watches near each other. However, the feature requires parental approval before it becomes active, giving guardians control over who their child can connect with.

The watch features a 1.4-inch TFT display with a 240 x 240 resolution. TCL includes a pre-applied screen protector, while the raised protective case around the display helps guard against everyday bumps and drops. The smartwatch also has an IP68 rating, making it resistant to dust and water. A water ejection mode is included as well, so children can wear it in light rain or while washing their hands.

Inside, the TCL Kids Watch K5 is powered by the Unisoc W337E, a quad-core Cortex-A53 chip paired with a Mali T820 GPU and an integrated 4G modem. It comes with 256MB of RAM and 256MB of onboard storage. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.2, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and either nano-SIM or eSIM support depending on the model.

The 2MP camera sits above the display and is primarily used for video calls. TCL has also included a microphone and speaker, allowing children to chat with approved contacts directly from the watch. In addition to communication tools, the watch offers step tracking and built-in games to keep kids active and entertained.

Battery life is another key selling point. The TCL Kids Watch K5 has a 600mAh battery, which TCL says can last for more than two days on a single charge or over four days in standby mode. Charging is handled through pogo pins.

The smartwatch runs on RTOS and is designed with children’s privacy and security in mind. TCL says the Kids Watch K5 complies with major global security and privacy standards, including GDPR, ISO 27701, and ISO 27001.

In terms of design, the TCL Kids Watch K5 is available in three bright colors: Dawn Pink, Sky Blue, and Meteor Orange. The watch weighs around 50 grams and measures 14.35 mm thick. TCL says it uses soft, skin-friendly materials for comfortable daily wear. Parents can also buy additional strap-and-case sets in Aurora Green, Sunrise Yellow, and Space Purple for more customization.

The TCL Kids Watch K5 is priced at €100, making it a relatively affordable option for families looking for a 4G kids smartwatch with safety-focused features. With its combination of location tracking, video calling, School Mode, SOS support, durable design, and colorful styling, the Kids Watch K5 could be a practical choice for parents who want peace of mind and children who want a fun wearable of their own.
