YouTube Premium Price Hike Expands to Europe and Singapore, Subscribers Must Accept New Rates by October 10
YouTube Premium is becoming more expensive for subscribers in several European countries and Singapore, marking another major price increase for the ad-free video and music subscription service in 2026.
After raising the cost of YouTube Premium in the United States earlier this year, YouTube is now notifying users in multiple regions that their monthly subscription fees are going up. Affected subscribers are receiving emails titled “Action Needed,” explaining that they must manually accept the new pricing before October 10 to keep their membership active.
If users do not approve the updated rates by the deadline, their YouTube Premium subscription will be canceled before the new prices take effect on October 12.
The latest YouTube Premium price increase varies by country, with some markets seeing subscription costs rise by as much as 17 percent. In parts of Europe, this is the first major price adjustment since 2024.
In Portugal and Italy, the YouTube Premium individual plan is increasing from €17.99 to €20.99 per month. The family plan in those countries is also going up, rising from €25.99 to €29.99 per month.
Subscribers in Finland are reporting that the individual plan is moving from €14.99 to €16.99 per month. In Spain, the individual YouTube Premium plan is rising to €15.99 per month. Romania is also seeing a price increase of around 10 percent, with the monthly fee changing from RON 29.00 to RON 32.00. Ukraine is also included in the latest round of pricing changes.
The price hike is not limited to Europe. In Singapore, YouTube Premium is also getting more expensive. The individual plan is increasing from SGD 13.98 to SGD 15.98 per month, while the family plan is rising from SGD 27.98 to SGD 31.98 per month. That works out to an increase of roughly 14 percent for subscribers in the country.
What makes this change especially important is that YouTube is not simply applying the new price automatically on the next billing cycle. Instead, affected users must actively agree to the updated subscription cost. Those who ignore the email or miss the October 10 deadline risk losing access to YouTube Premium.
YouTube Premium includes ad-free viewing, background playback, offline downloads, and access to YouTube Music Premium. For many users, the service has become a convenient way to watch videos without interruptions and stream music across devices. However, with repeated price increases in different regions, some subscribers may now be reconsidering whether the monthly cost still offers enough value.
