Mebius is bringing YOBARAI Detective: Miasma Breaker, its fast-paced, multi-directional exorcism shooter, to Switch 2 this fall in Japan. Originally launched on the first Switch in January 2025, the new version targets smoother performance, sharper resolution, and full support for mouse-style controls with the latest Joy-Con.
Set under the cover of night, the game follows Kisaragi Ninja, a detective who lives a double life. By day she blends into a modest agency office; by night she hunts the malevolent “Miasma” that materializes in the city’s streets, protecting the public from unseen misfortune.
Gameplay centers on fluid, all-direction shooting and crowd control, rewarding you for wiping out swarms of enemies in rapid succession. You’ll accept quests, use your rewards to upgrade Kisaragi, and push into tougher missions. Smart positioning and build choices are key as threats can strike from every angle.
Highlights include:
– Striking pixel art that brings a neon-soaked nighttime city to life, complemented by evocative audio that heightens every encounter.
– A rush of momentum as you clear out enemies from all directions, delivering that addictive “one more run” feel.
– Deep character growth with multiple viable builds, encouraging experimentation and replayability.
With its performance and visual upgrades, the Switch 2 release looks set to be the definitive way to experience this exorcism shooter. A western release has not been announced.
