Yarbo M Series Upgrade Turns the Versatile Garden Robot into an Even More Powerful Yardwork Pro

Yarbo’s M Series garden robot just got a major capability boost, turning it into more than a modular lawn mower or snow-clearing helper. With a newly announced add-on called the Smart Assist Module (SAM), the compact Yarbo M Series Core can now handle several “smart yard assistant” features on its own—no mower deck or snow plough required.

The Yarbo M Series first drew attention after being showcased at CES 2026, and it recently launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that’s already pulled in around €2.3 million. Now, Yarbo is building on that momentum by expanding what the robot can do between mowing sessions and seasonal jobs.

Until now, some of the most interesting features—like autonomous yard patrol, following a person, and towing small loads—were available when the M Series Core was paired with certain attachments (such as the mower or snow plough module). With the SAM upgrade, those same functions can run directly from the Core unit itself. In practical terms, that means the robot can be useful even when it’s not actively cutting grass or pushing snow.

Alongside its existing modular toolkit—mowing (with optional edge trimming), collecting leaves and grass clippings using a grass catcher, and clearing snow using a plough—the Yarbo M Series can now act more like an autonomous outdoor helper. In Patrol mode, it can regularly move around the property on its own. In Follow-Me mode, it can trail a person at an estimated distance of about 2 to 5 meters, which could be handy for tasks where you want gear or tools moved along with you. Yarbo also notes that the robot can tow small loads up to 100 kg autonomously, adding another layer of utility for yard work and light hauling.

For buyers interested in the upgrade through the Kickstarter campaign, Yarbo is offering the M Series Smart Assist Module as an add-on. It’s priced at $199 during the campaign (about €173), which is $50 below the planned MSRP of $249. Existing backers can also modify their pledge to include the SAM module.

By expanding smart modes beyond mower and snow attachments, Yarbo is positioning the M Series as a year-round robotic yard assistant—one that can patrol, follow, and help move loads even when it’s not doing its headline jobs like mowing the lawn or clearing the driveway.
