Xiaomi has expanded its reach by launching the highly-anticipated 14 series in the Indian market. The series, which includes the standard Xiaomi 14 and the premium Xiaomi 14 Ultra, was first introduced in Europe at MWC 2024 and comes equipped with the impressive Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and the prestige of Leica-branded optics.
In line with Xiaomi’s tradition, the 14 Pro remains exclusive to China. However, Indian consumers can look forward to the 14 Ultra, which boasts a Sony LYT-900 camera setup and comes in elegant white and black vegan leather versions, complementing its timeless design. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14 will be available in a precision-crafted glass finish, offered in both green and black color options.
The new series is set to open for reservations starting March 11, 2024, with the Xiaomi 14 starting at INR 59,999 (approximately $725), and the high-end Xiaomi 14 Ultra carrying a price tag of INR 99,999 (around $1,208). This pricing is particularly noteworthy when compared to their European market prices of €999 (about $1,093) for the Xiaomi 14 and €1,499.90 (circa $1,640) for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Despite the lofty prices in Europe, these models are reportedly outselling their predecessors.
It remains to be seen if the 14 series will replicate its European success in the Indian market. However, even if it doesn’t hit the anticipated sales targets, consumers in India can still opt for devices like the Redmi A3, which borrows some characteristics from the Xiaomi 14 Ultra but is available at a more accessible price point on Amazon.in.
The introduction of Xiaomi’s latest flagships in India reflects the company’s commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology and design at various price points to cater to a wider audience, ensuring that there’s a Xiaomi device for every type of smartphone user.
