Xiaomi Unveils Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition: Fresh Design, Key Specs Revealed

Xiaomi is giving fans an early look at the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition ahead of its official launch on April 2, and the new model brings more than just a fresh coat of paint. Along with a full design reveal, Xiaomi has confirmed several key specs that make this Special Edition meaningfully different from the standard Redmi Note 15 5G released in December 2025.

The biggest visual change is the new set of color options. While the regular Redmi Note 15 5G comes in Black, Glacier Blue, and Mist Purple, the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition will be offered in Frosted White, Carbon Black, and a standout Crimson Red version. The Crimson Red model adds a premium touch with a vegan leather finish paired with a gold frame, giving it a more upscale look than the typical mid-range phone design.

Xiaomi also shared thickness details for each finish, which is useful for buyers who care about a slimmer feel. The Carbon Black Special Edition is the thinnest at 7.35mm. Frosted White measures 7.4mm, while the Crimson Red vegan leather model is slightly thicker at 7.82mm.

Beyond the design, the camera setup is one of the most noticeable spec changes. The standard Redmi Note 15 5G features a 108MP primary rear camera, but the Special Edition switches to a 50MP primary sensor. Even with the lower megapixel count, Xiaomi is leaning into features that can improve real-world shooting versatility, including 4K video recording, Dynamic Shot, and the ability to switch between three focal lengths for portrait photography. For many users, those practical shooting options may matter more than a higher megapixel number on paper.

Battery life is another area where the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition aims to pull ahead. Xiaomi says it packs a 5,800mAh battery, rated for over 44 hours of use. That’s a step up from the standard model’s 5,520mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is promoted for over 38 hours on a single charge. Charging speeds remain the same, with 45W fast wired charging included on the Special Edition as well.

On the performance side, Xiaomi confirms the Special Edition will run the same Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor found in the standard Redmi Note 15 5G. The company is also promoting a “48-month lag-free performance” claim, suggesting long-term optimization is part of the pitch for buyers who plan to keep their phone for several years.

Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but with a redesigned exterior, a larger battery, and updated camera hardware and features, the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition is shaping up to be a distinct alternative rather than a simple cosmetic refresh.
