Xiaomi is teasing a refreshed Xiaomi Book Pro 14 that’s shaping up to be one of the most interesting thin-and-light laptops of the year, thanks to Intel’s Panther Lake platform and a clear message: it’s aiming straight at Apple’s MacBook Pro M5.
In a new teaser, Xiaomi claims its Panther Lake-powered Book Pro 14 can outperform the MacBook Pro M5 (16GB/512GB) in battery-based streaming and online meeting endurance. That’s a bold comparison, and it highlights what Xiaomi wants to be known for with this model: long battery life in an ultra-portable design.
Xiaomi says the laptop can deliver up to 19.8 hours of local 1080p video playback. If that figure holds up in real-world use, it would be especially impressive considering the Xiaomi Book Pro 14 is said to weigh just 1.08 kg—making it a strong contender for travelers, students, and anyone who wants all-day runtime without carrying a heavy charger everywhere.
Battery capacity and charging are also part of the pitch. Xiaomi confirms a 72Wh battery, paired with an energy density rated up to 800Wh/L, suggesting a compact battery design that still packs substantial capacity. The company also includes a 100W GaN fast charger, promising faster, more efficient charging in a smaller adapter size than traditional power bricks.
Beyond battery life, Xiaomi is emphasizing premium materials to keep the laptop thin, light, and durable. The chassis uses a magnesium alloy build with what Xiaomi describes as a skin-friendly molecular coating designed to feel smooth while resisting wear over time. To reduce weight further, the bottom cover is reportedly made from carbon fiber—claimed to be 40% lighter than typical aluminum alloy. Xiaomi also says the keyboard support plate uses titanium alloy, which is said to be 44% lighter than the stainless steel plates commonly used in many laptops.
On the performance side, Xiaomi previously revealed the Book Pro 14 can be configured with up to the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, positioning it as a higher-performance option within the Panther Lake lineup. A separate configuration featuring the Intel Core Ultra 5 325H has also appeared in benchmark listings, suggesting multiple variants could be on the way depending on price and target audience.
There’s still no official release date, but Xiaomi has indicated the China launch is coming soon. With a lightweight 14-inch design, premium materials, a large 72Wh battery, fast 100W GaN charging, and ambitious battery life claims against the MacBook Pro M5, the Xiaomi Book Pro 14 is clearly being positioned as a top-tier portable laptop worth watching.
