Xiaomi Silently Unveils a Fresh Redmi M Series Smartphone

Xiaomi Redmi M100 Debuts in China With Huge 7,900mAh Battery and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5

Xiaomi has introduced a new budget-friendly 5G smartphone in China, the Redmi M100. The launch is notable because it marks the beginning of the Redmi M series, giving Xiaomi another option in the affordable smartphone segment.

The Redmi M100 looks familiar in several ways, especially when compared with the global Redmi 17 5G. It carries a similar design approach and uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, an entry-level 5G processor built on a power-efficient 4nm process. This should help the phone deliver reliable everyday performance while keeping battery consumption under control.

Xiaomi is offering the Redmi M100 with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. That makes it suitable for users who want a phone for browsing, messaging, video streaming, social media, and light gaming without spending flagship-level money.

One of the biggest highlights of the Redmi M100 is its large display. The phone features a 6.9-inch LCD screen with a 1,600 x 720 pixel resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. While the resolution is modest for a panel of this size, the higher refresh rate should make scrolling, animations, and general navigation feel smoother.

For photography, the Redmi M100 keeps things simple. It comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. These cameras are more basic than what is found on the global Redmi 17 5G, which offers a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera. Xiaomi appears to be positioning the Redmi M100 as a practical device focused more on battery life and daily usability than advanced camera performance.

Battery life is where the Redmi M100 stands out the most. The smartphone packs a massive 7,900mAh battery, which is significantly larger than what many phones in this price range offer. For users who prioritize long screen time, gaming sessions, navigation, or travel use, this large battery could be a major selling point.

The phone also supports 45W wired charging, helping reduce downtime when the battery finally runs low. In addition, it supports 22.5W reverse wired charging, meaning the Redmi M100 can be used to charge other compatible devices through a cable.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC. Xiaomi has also included practical features such as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which remains useful for users who still prefer wired earphones.

On the software side, the Redmi M100 runs HyperOS 3 out of the box. This gives users Xiaomi’s latest software experience, including updated interface features and system-level improvements.

The Redmi M100 is available in three color options: Midnight Black, Starry White, and Wilderness Green. Xiaomi is selling the phone in three memory configurations in China:

8GB RAM with 128GB storage for CNY 1,799, around $267

6GB RAM with 256GB storage for CNY 1,999, around $296

8GB RAM with 256GB storage for CNY 2,199, around $326

With its large 6.9-inch 120Hz display, 5G support, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor, huge 7,900mAh battery, and reverse charging capability, the Redmi M100 appears to be aimed at buyers who want long-lasting battery life and dependable everyday performance at a competitive price.
