Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Rumored to Debut with Revamped Design but Lower Camera Specs

Xiaomi is set to launch the second-generation clamshell foldable smartphone, the Mix Flip 2, packed with impressive upgrades. While the Mix Flip 2 promises state-of-the-art features, it may lack a component that its competitors proudly flaunt.

The Mix Flip 2 aims to build on the success of its predecessor with enhancements such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, positioning itself alongside flagship models like the OnePlus 13 and RedMagic 10 Pro. However, thanks to a recent leak, it is suggested that this new iteration could feature a design shift.

Esteemed leaker, Digital Chat Station, has revealed that the Mix Flip 2 might set the standard as the first clamshell smartphone to carry the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The device is rumored to offer dual 50MP rear cameras, yet it’s unlikely to include a periscope zoom lens — a feature found in the first Mix Flip.

Additional features could include a sizable cover display, potentially curved on two sides, marking a new design milestone for the Mix Flip series. A main LTPO folding display of approximately 6.85 inches with a 1.5K resolution is also anticipated, nearly matching the size of Xiaomi’s current vertical-folding model.

Furthermore, rumors suggest the Mix Flip 2 will maintain a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button and might introduce wireless charging along with an IPX8 rating, despite their absence in its predecessor.

Nonetheless, excluding a periscope-style telephoto lens could be a bold decision for Xiaomi, especially when such a feature would set it apart from competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip6. Whether this strategy pays off remains to be seen, as Xiaomi continues to innovate within the competitive landscape of foldable smartphones.
