Microsoft has unveiled an exciting collaboration with AMD to develop a new range of devices, including next-generation Xbox consoles. Though details remain limited, Xbox president Sarah Bond hinted at a multi-year endeavor to co-engineer silicon for various devices, such as future Xbox consoles for both living room enjoyment and mobile gaming.
This announcement fuels speculation about the long-awaited Xbox handheld device, even though the newly revealed ROG Xbox Ally handheld will only feature a modified version of Windows 11 instead of a native Xbox operating system, meaning it isn’t considered a true “handheld Xbox.”
Previously, rumors abounded regarding Microsoft’s strategy for the next iteration of Xbox hardware. Bond confirmed that the team is “full speed ahead” on developing new hardware that promises the most significant technological leap of a generation.
“Together with AMD, we are pushing the boundaries of gaming silicon to bring forth next-level graphics innovation, enabling a richer visual experience and more immersive gameplay, all powered by AI, while remaining compatible with your current Xbox game library,” shared Bond.
