Wolcen 2 Unleashes a New Action RPG Adventure on PC and Consoles

Wolcen 2 Announced: Dark Fantasy Action RPG Sequel Targets Early Access in 2027

Wolcen Studio has officially announced Wolcen 2, the next chapter in its dark fantasy action RPG series. The sequel to Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is currently in development for Windows PC and is planned to launch in Early Access on Steam sometime in 2027. A full release is expected to follow later for PC and current-generation consoles.

Set many years after the events of the original game, Wolcen 2 returns players to a grim world standing on the edge of collapse. The story follows the Warlord, the exiled bastard son of the Shadow God, who is forced back into conflict as an ancient prophecy begins to unfold. This prophecy offers a chance to save the world, but it comes with a heavy cost.

Alongside a group of companions, including familiar faces from the first game, the Warlord must confront impossible choices, reality-warping powers, and terrifying forces emerging from beyond the rift. Players will be able to experience the journey alone or team up with others in cooperative play for up to four players.

One of the biggest features returning in Wolcen 2 is the freedom to build a character without traditional class restrictions. Instead of locking players into fixed roles, the game allows weapons to unlock skills, while modifiers, specializations, passive abilities, and equipment determine how those skills evolve. This system is designed to let players create unusual and powerful builds, whether they want to become a melee-focused mage, a spellblade, a durable caster, a gunslinger, or something completely original.

Combat in Wolcen 2 is being built around fast, rhythmic action. Players will face aggressive melee enemies, ranged attackers, elite monsters, and large-scale boss encounters that require careful movement and skill chaining. When battles become overwhelming, the Warlord can unleash Shadow Form, transforming into a devastating force capable of tearing through enemies and turning the tide of combat.

Character progression will focus heavily on synergy between skills, weapons, gear, passives, and crafted items. Players will be able to hunt for powerful loot, gather materials, and craft equipment that supports their preferred playstyle. The goal is to encourage experimentation while keeping the systems clear enough for players to understand, refine, and perfect their builds over time.

Beyond the main campaign, Wolcen 2 will include long-term gameplay systems designed to support continued progression. The world will feature ongoing faction conflicts across dynamic battlefields, allowing players to keep fighting for territory and rewards after the central story unfolds. Another activity, called the Tower of Wonders, will offer a more focused challenge where players can pursue specific rewards while adjusting difficulty and shaping the outcome of each run.

Wolcen Studio says the Early Access period will be used to improve balance, performance, polish, and overall gameplay based on player feedback. After the full release, the studio plans to expand Wolcen 2 with additional story content, new activities, endgame updates, and optional cosmetic items.

With its classless character system, brutal combat, cooperative play, and dark fantasy world, Wolcen 2 is shaping up to be an ambitious sequel for fans of loot-driven action RPGs. Players looking for deep build customization and a grim, choice-driven adventure will have to wait until 2027 to enter Early Access on PC.
