Withings Unveils Ultra-Accurate Body Scan Scale Matching DEXA Results by 99%

Withings BodyFit Smart Scale Launches With Full-Body Composition Tracking and DEXA-Like Accuracy

Withings has introduced the BodyFit, a new smart body composition scale designed for users who want more than a simple weight reading. Priced at $280 in the US and €250 in Europe, the BodyFit aims to deliver detailed health insights through high-precision measurements, full-body analysis, and connected fitness tracking.

The standout feature of the Withings BodyFit is its handle with built-in electrodes. While many smart scales rely only on foot-based sensors, BodyFit uses electrodes in both the base and the handle to send measurement signals through more areas of the body. This allows the scale to analyze body composition across the upper and lower body, rather than estimating results from the legs alone.

That design is especially useful because body composition can vary widely between different muscle groups. A person with strong legs but less upper-body muscle, for example, may not get the most accurate full-body reading from a scale that only measures through the feet. By adding hand electrodes, Withings says BodyFit can provide a more complete picture of fat mass, muscle mass, and overall body composition.

According to the company, internal testing found that BodyFit measurements showed a 99% correlation with DEXA scan results. DEXA, or dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, is widely considered one of the most reliable methods for measuring body fat, lean mass, and bone-related metrics. While a smart scale is not a medical scanner, this claimed correlation positions BodyFit as a premium option for people who want more advanced home health tracking.

The scale also promises highly precise weight measurements with accuracy up to 50 g, or 0.11 lb. In addition to weight and body composition, BodyFit can measure arterial stiffness, a metric that may help users better understand cardiovascular health trends over time. This makes the device more than a fitness scale; it is also aimed at people interested in long-term wellness monitoring.

BodyFit includes a 2.8-inch color display with a 320 × 240 pixel resolution. The screen can show weight, body composition data, progress updates, and even weather information. This allows users to check key stats directly on the scale without always opening the companion app.

As expected, the Withings BodyFit works with the Withings app and supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The app can be used to track progress, review health trends, and sync data over time. Some advanced features, however, require an optional Withings+ subscription, so buyers should keep that in mind when comparing the total cost.

With its handle-based electrodes, full-body composition analysis, cardiovascular health metrics, and connected app support, the Withings BodyFit is built for users who want a more complete smart scale experience. It targets fitness enthusiasts, health-focused households, and anyone looking to track body fat, muscle mass, and wellness data with greater detail from home.
