Tiny PC, big power: a China-based engineering team has unveiled the Wee Beastie Fishtank Gaming & AI PC, a 4.75-liter mini desktop that squeezes in an RTX 4070-class GPU using the compact MXM form factor. It promises desktop-grade gaming and AI performance in a footprint that takes up roughly a quarter of the space of a typical mid-tower case.
Instead of relying on integrated graphics like most small systems, this machine uses a custom MXM board built around the desktop RTX 4070 GPU die. That clever packaging dramatically reduces the space required without sacrificing the horsepower gamers and creators expect. Paired with either an Intel Core i7-13700H or Core Ultra 7 255H, the Fishtank targets demanding use cases from high-refresh gaming to video editing and 3D workloads.
AI acceleration is part of the pitch, too. The system is rated for up to 466 AI TOPS via the GPU’s Tensor cores, enabling on-device acceleration for tasks like large language models and vision-language models.
The company positions this tiny powerhouse as an alternative to compact systems based on Ryzen AI Max+ 395. The trade-offs are clear: while those competitors may win on power efficiency and can edge ahead in CPU-heavy scenarios, the Fishtank focuses on stronger overall GPU performance, expandability, and price. It starts at $699 for a configuration with the Core i7-13700H, RTX 4070 GPU, Wi‑Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, with options to add up to 128 GB of DDR5 memory and as much as 16 TB of SSD storage. A version with the Core Ultra 7 255H starts at $899. By comparison, many Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mini PCs typically sit in the $1500–$2000 range, and they often use soldered memory, limiting upgrades. Even after adding RAM and storage, the Fishtank’s total price is expected to remain well under $1500, while keeping the door open for future expansion.
The project has already hit its funding goal. Production is slated to begin in December, followed by a second run in February, with shipping currently planned for March 2026.
