Walmart’s Onn lineup has built a strong reputation for delivering some of the best-value Google TV streaming devices you can buy, and a new option is now joining the mix. Called the Onn 4K Streaming Stick, it arrives as a budget-friendly, entry-level device aimed at shoppers who want 4K streaming without paying premium prices.
The timing is notable. Over the past few months, Walmart has quietly reshaped its Onn Google TV range, including price increases on certain models and the removal of others from sale. This new Onn 4K Streaming Stick looks like it’s designed to step into the role previously filled by the Onn 4K box that launched in 2023. That older 4K box originally carried an estimated $20 price tag, later rising to around $25. Walmart still appears to have the Onn 4K box available, but the new streaming stick introduces several updates—and it comes with a higher price.
One of the biggest changes is the hardware. The Onn 4K Streaming Stick swaps the Onn 4K box’s Amlogic S905Y4 processor for a more powerful Realtek RTD1325 chipset. How it stacks up against the Amlogic S905X5M found in the Onn 4K Plus is something buyers will be watching closely, but the move suggests Walmart is aiming for smoother performance in this new stick-style design.
Connectivity also gets a modern upgrade. Instead of the older micro USB port used on the Onn 4K box, the new Onn 4K Streaming Stick includes a USB-C port, which should be more convenient for many households and aligns with current device standards.
Despite the new chip and USB-C, some core specs remain familiar. The device keeps 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, runs Android TV 14, and supports popular high dynamic range formats including HDR10 and HDR10+. Audio support includes Dolby Atmos, which is a nice feature to see at this price point for anyone with compatible soundbars or home theater setups.
However, Dolby Vision support may be missing—and for some shoppers, that could be the deciding factor. The packaging reportedly does not mention Dolby Vision at all, which strongly suggests it isn’t supported. While that hasn’t been fully confirmed, it would match Walmart’s current product pattern: lower-end Onn devices typically skip Dolby Vision, while higher-tier models include it and advertise it prominently.
Availability is also a bit unusual so far. The Onn 4K Streaming Stick hasn’t appeared on Walmart’s US website yet, but it seems to be showing up in physical stores. A reported in-store purchase places the price at $30.
At $30, the Onn 4K Streaming Stick positions itself as the cheapest 4K Google TV streaming stick currently available in the US, making it an appealing option for upgrading older TVs, adding smart streaming to a spare room, or replacing a slower device without spending much. The biggest question for many buyers will be whether getting 4K Google TV at this price is worth the likely tradeoff of no Dolby Vision.
