Vivo Unveils Budget 5G Smartphone With Massive 6,500mAh Battery and Smooth 120Hz Display

Vivo Y6k launches as a budget 5G phone with a 6,500mAh battery, 120Hz display, and Android 16

Vivo has expanded its affordable 5G smartphone lineup with the launch of the Vivo Y6k in China. The new handset is designed for users who want long battery life, smooth display performance, and 5G connectivity without moving into premium pricing.

The Vivo Y6k arrives with a clean and simple design, offering three color options: blue, white, and black. On the front, it features a large 6.74-inch LCD display with a 1600 x 720 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. That high refresh rate should make scrolling, browsing, and everyday app use feel smoother than standard 60Hz screens. Vivo also claims the display can reach up to 1,200 nits of brightness in high brightness mode, which should help improve outdoor visibility.

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, an octa-core processor with speeds of up to 2.4GHz. It is paired with a Mali-G57 GPU, 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. This hardware setup positions the Vivo Y6k as a practical choice for everyday tasks such as messaging, video streaming, social media, light gaming, and general multitasking.

One of the biggest highlights of the Vivo Y6k is its 6,500mAh battery. While it is not the largest battery in Vivo’s current budget lineup, it is still significantly bigger than what many entry-level and mid-range phones offer. Vivo says the battery is built to maintain reliable performance for up to five years. The phone supports 15W charging through a USB Type-C port.

For photography, the Vivo Y6k keeps things simple. It includes a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture, arranged in a dual-ring style camera module on the back. On the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera placed inside a waterdrop-style notch. The camera setup is modest, but it should be enough for basic photos, video calls, and casual social media use.

The smartphone runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, giving users access to Vivo’s latest software experience in China. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock, an infrared remote control function, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C connectivity.

Wireless connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4. Vivo has also added durability features, including an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. The device has also received SGS five-star drop-resistance certification, making it more appealing for users who want a budget phone with added protection against daily wear and accidental drops.

In terms of size, the Vivo Y6k measures 167.4 x 77.1 x 8.39mm and weighs 209g. Despite its large battery, the phone maintains a relatively slim profile for its category.

The Vivo Y6k is priced at 1,599 yuan in China, which is roughly $240 for the version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Vivo has not yet confirmed whether the phone will launch in other markets.

With its 120Hz display, 6,500mAh battery, Dimensity 6300 processor, Android 16 software, and affordable pricing, the Vivo Y6k is positioned as a strong option for buyers looking for a budget 5G smartphone with long-lasting battery life and dependable everyday performance.
