The next generation of Qualcomm’s chipset, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, is poised to bring top-tier performance to the mid-range smartphone segment. Recent benchmark tests reveal that this new processor is set to offer performance on par with last year’s premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, as seen in high-end devices such as the Galaxy S23 series.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, which is anticipated to be unveiled soon at a Snapdragon product event, has garnered attention thanks to solid benchmark results hinting at its flagship-level CPU capabilities. The OnePlus Ace 3V, a forthcoming device powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, has posted impressive scores on Geekbench that stand close to those of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Specifically, the OnePlus Ace 3V achieved a single-core score of 1848 and a multi-core score of 5007 in Geekbench 6.0 testing, which is just shy of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s average scores of 1940 (single-core) and 5170 (multi-core).
Expectations for AnTuTu benchmark performance are also high, with predictions suggesting the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 might hit a total score around 1.5 million, comparable to devices like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra that use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Detailed insights into the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 specifications have also been confirmed. The chipset comprises a Cortex-X4 core clocked at 2.8 GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.61 GHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores at 1.9 GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 732, which has scored 8963 on Geekbench’s Vulkan test and 7986 on the OpenCL score, both reflecting a GPU prowess that’s in the same league as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy.
As this upcoming chipset prepares to enter the market, it promises to deliver exceptional processing power to mid-range smartphones, potentially changing users’ expectations of performance in this category. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 might indeed be a game-changer for more affordably priced phones, offering unprecedented speed and efficiency typically reserved for high-end models.
