Garmin is stirring excitement with a teaser of its upcoming smartwatch on social media platforms in China. The sneak peek, shared via the company’s Weibo account, offers a glimpse of a device that bears a striking resemblance to the Forerunner 165. The silhouette and button layout—featuring Start/Stop, Back, Down, Up, and Light functions—suggest it could be a new addition to the Forerunner series. Speculation is rife that this might be the Forerunner 65 or 175, especially given the runner’s image in the teaser.
While official specifications remain under wraps, the anticipation builds with a nod to previous models. The entry-level Forerunner 55, for instance, boasts GPS, an MIP display, heart rate monitoring, daily workout suggestions, and Garmin Coach. Meanwhile, the Forerunner 165 is renowned for its vibrant AMOLED display and features like Running Dynamics and VO2 Max monitoring.
The upcoming smartwatch is expected to be affordably priced between CNY 1,000 (around $139) and CNY 1,999 (approximately $278), positioning it as an attractive option for budget-conscious enthusiasts. For context, the Forerunner 165 is priced at CNY 2,080 (about $249.99 in the US). Enthusiasts can anticipate a detailed unveiling of this device on July 22nd at noon in China (4:00 GMT). Although specific specs and a global release timeline remain uncertain, this new watch could soon grace markets like the U.S., where Garmin recently launched the Forerunner 570 at $549.99.
Stay tuned as this new wearable might just set a fresh benchmark for fitness tech.
