Following the excitement of launching the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, tech enthusiasts are turning their focus towards Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy S25. Slated for a release in the January-February window, speculation has been rife about the features and innovations this new lineup will offer. One of the major talking points has been the processor, with rumors suggesting the inclusion of the Exynos 2500 chip. However, recent reports have confirmed that Samsung will exclusively utilize Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for the Galaxy S25, touting significant performance upgrades over its predecessor.
Traditionally, Samsung’s premium smartphones have been available in two variants: Exynos and Snapdragon. However, the Exynos 2500, set to launch in early 2025, won’t be ready in time for the S25 series. This leaves room for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to take the spotlight. The new chipset promises a major performance leap compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, thanks to groundbreaking improvements in both the manufacturing process and its custom-designed CPU architecture.
The Galaxy S25’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to bring a whopping 30 percent increase in performance for AI and GPU tasks, leading to enhanced graphics and AI processing capabilities. Unlike the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which utilizes ARM Cortex cores, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will feature custom-designed CPU cores, ensuring superior processing power and overall efficiency.
This next-gen chip also boasts improved power efficiency, thanks to advancements in its thermal management capabilities. While this may result in a price hike for the Galaxy S25—estimated to be around A$349 to A$383, marking a 30 percent increase from previous models—the investment seems justified for the performance gains.
Experts believe the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be a game-changer, possibly rivaling Apple’s forthcoming A18 Pro processor. This could help bridge the performance gap between Android and iOS devices, offering Samsung users a premium experience that’s both powerful and efficient. With these impressive upgrades, the Galaxy S25 lineup is poised to deliver significant performance improvements, making it one of the most anticipated releases in the tech world.
