The GeForce RTX 5050, featuring 2560 cores, 80 Tensor Cores, and 20 Ray Tracing Units, brings with it some speculation regarding its VRAM type. While earlier predictions pointed to GDDR6 for desktops, recent buzz suggests a potential shift to GDDR7. For laptops, leaks hint at both GDDR6 and GDDR7 options, leaving enthusiasts wondering if multiple variants may be released.

With ASUS, MSI, and Lenovo already showcasing their RTX 5050-equipped models, something significant is definitely unfolding. ASUS Vietnam, for instance, has revealed the ROG Strix G16, equipped with the RTX 5050, an Intel Core i7 14650HX, 32 GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Interestingly, Newegg lists the Lenovo Legion 5i with an RTX 5050 for $2,228, suggesting the embargo on sales might be lifting. Notably, while Newegg specifies the RTX 5050 with 8 GB of GDDR7 memory, MSI’s listing mentions 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

Spec details from the listings such as CUDA Core count confirm the earlier leaks of the RTX 5050’s specifications, including the GB207 die running at 2235 to 2520 MHz.
