Ubisoft Game Compatibility Issues Arise with Windows 11 24H2 Update, Microsoft Reports

Microsoft has recently announced that their Windows 11 24H2 update could trigger responsiveness issues with certain Ubisoft titles. This not only leads to these games freezing but can also result in an unyielding black screen for players. The affected Ubisoft games include popular titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Origins, Odyssey, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Ubisoft has rolled out a preliminary hotfix for Star Wars Outlaws, marked as version 1.41; however, players may still encounter performance hiccups while playing. In response to these challenges, Microsoft has temporarily placed a “compatibility hold” on systems with these games. This means the 24H2 update won’t be automatically applied to these devices until the issues are thoroughly addressed.

Microsoft advises against manually updating to 24H2 using the Windows assistant or the media creation tool for now. Should gamers find themselves stuck due to these glitches, Microsoft suggests force-quitting the problematic games through Task Manager. This can be achieved by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del or Ctrl+Shift+Esc, locating the game’s executable in the Processes tab, and selecting ‘End Task’ from the right-click menu.

Given these instructions, players can mitigate frustrations as Microsoft and Ubisoft work collaboratively to iron out the kinks in this update. Stay tuned for further developments and solutions, ensuring your gaming experience is as smooth as possible.
