Truecaller Surpasses 450 Million Users in Monthly Engagement

The well-known caller identity app Truecaller has reached a significant milestone, announcing it has surpassed the impressive 450 million user mark. This achievement comes after the company successfully added 50 million users over the past 10 months and an additional 15.5 million since the onset of 2025.

With its largest user base in India, Truecaller has also seen a notable leadership shift. Rishit Jhunjhunwala, who served as Chief Product Officer and managed India operations, has now been promoted to CEO. This change follows the decision of the company’s co-founders to step back from daily operations in the previous year.

Jhunjhunwala emphasized that while India remains a critical and growing market, Truecaller is experiencing substantial expansion in multiple regions around the world. In a recent blog post, he highlighted strong growth patterns in Latin America, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Malaysia, and the United States.

However, the company is preparing to face potential challenges in India due to the government’s move towards establishing its own caller ID system. This could potentially compete with Truecaller’s offerings in the region.

Despite this, Truecaller has maintained an impressive active user base of nearly 430 million as of Q4 2024. The quarter ending in December saw a positive financial performance, with net sales increasing 23% and profits after tax rising 29% compared to the previous year. Truecaller’s stock has also seen a surge, rising over 33% year-to-date.

Earlier in the year, Truecaller enhanced its caller ID system to function more efficiently on iOS. This move was significant due to previous limitations from Apple’s operating system that made the live caller ID feature not quite on par with its Android version.

Truecaller is not stopping at caller ID; the company is diversifying its offerings. Initiatives include call recording and transcription features, an AI-driven assistant for call screening, as well as enhancements to its SMS and chat client services. This multifaceted approach aims to provide more value to users beyond traditional caller identification services.
